Longwood Babe Ruth League – T-Ball Division

1. Home Team and Visiting Team Responsibility
The home team, as per the official league schedule, is responsible for supplying one new baseball providing an Official Scorekeeper for record-keeping purposes.
2. Game Time:
The regulation game is six innings.
No more than six innings will ever be played, regardless of the score.
No inning will start after one hour and thirty minutes has elapsed from the official start time.
3. Standings
Team standings are not maintained in this division.
4. Batting
Each batter will be allowed to swing at the ball until they hit a ball in fair territory or have three strikes at the ball or four (4) foul balls after the batter reaches 2 strikes.
A strike shall be called if the batter: a. Completely misses the ball and tee b. Misses the ball but hits the tee c. Hits the ball foul and has less than 2 strikes
A foul shall be called if the ball: a. Is hit into foul territory b. Does not reach the 25' line AND is not fielded by a defensive player before the umpire calls foul, declaring the ball dead.
All roster players present for the game will be placed in the batting order.
Bunting, base stealing, and leading off are not permitted.
An inning is over when 3 outs are made or six (6) runs have scored.
Batting helmets must be worn by all batters, on-deck batters, and base runners.
Players can advance one base on an overthrow.
A play ends when the lead runner is stopped.
A maximum of three (3) coaches are allowed on the field for batting. A 1st base coach, a 3rd base coach, and a coach to help with the tee at home plate.
5. Fielding Rules:
ONLY Ten (10) defensive players, comprising six (6) infielders and four (4) outfielders, are on the field at all times.
One of the infield positions is the catcher.
There will be no infield fly rule.
A maximum of two (2) coaches on the field for the defensive team, stationed in the outfield area behind the outfielders.
6. Minimum Playing Time:
Managers and coaches are encouraged to rotate their players within fielding positions to promote learning various positions.
Every player will be given the opportunity to play infield for at least one inning per game.
If, due to safety concerns, a manager feels it is unsafe for a player to play infield, approval must be obtained from the Division Representative.
Every player shall play at least 2 defensive innings per game and not sit on the bench in consecutive innings.
7. Players Arriving after the Start of Games:
If a player arrives after the start of the game, the player must be added to the bottom of the batting order.
8. Scorebook:
The home team is responsible for keeping the official scorebook.
The scorebook is primarily maintained for insurance purposes and to document player's participation for All-Star team eligibility.
No win/loss records or standings are kept in the T-ball Division.
9. Dress Code
The league furnishes each player with a hat, shirt, and belt or socks. Every player must wear a complete and matching uniform for all league games, including matching pants. Exposed jewelry such as wrist watches, bracelets, large or loop-style earrings, and neck chains are prohibited.
10. Infielder Rule:
All players must throw the ball and tag their respective bases.
The pitcher must throw the ball to another base; running home is allowed only to get an out.
