Candyland Park Ground Rules

Sliding Gates

All game fields have sliding gates in the outfield fence to allow for field maintenance equipment to enter the field. All sliding gates can be closed and are pretty tight. If a ball does get stuck or gets through this gate, the fielder should put his hands in the air. The umpire can then make a ruling on the play.

Scoreboard

Scoreboards are entirely on the outside of the playing fields.

Dugout Openings

All game fields have dugout openings that don’t have a gate. Thrown balls that pass through the opening and into the dugout are out of play, subject to overthrow rules. These openings are also subject to catch and carry rule.

Backstop Mat

All game fields have a backstop mat zip-tied to the fence. There is potential for a ball to get caught behind or underneath this mat. If it does the fielder should put his arms in the air. The umpire can then make a ruling on the play.

Screen (Netting)

All game fields have a screen to protect spectators running from the backstop past the dugouts. If a thrown ball hits above the fence and into this screen it is out of play and subject to overthrow rules. The dugouts fascia board is behind this screen and out of play. If a thrown ball hits the fence and bounces back into play it is a live ball. On Warren R. Brown Field (C3) the fencing past the dugout on the first base side is shorter than the other fencing and has a yellow fence topper on it. Anything over the yellow fence topper is out of play and subject to overthrow rules.
