EOS Tournament

EOS Tournament Rules Spring 2018

1) All regular season rules remain the same unless noted below

2) When possible, tournaments will be set up with pool play, which will determine the seeding for elimination play.

3) We have implemented a pitch count “rest requirement” in addition to our current “rest requirement” based on innings pitched. This rule requires a 1 Day rest requirement once 41 pitches (46 for Babe Ruth Division) has been reached. Babe Ruth national rules dictate a mandatory 2 days of rest when a Cal Ripken league pitcher pitches more than 2 innings.

4) The number of teams advancing to Elimination Play may be adjusted due to time constraints, rainouts, etc...

5) Ties are allowed in pool play.

6) Elimination games must have a winner. In the event of a tie, we will follow the below Tiebreaker Rules to determine a winner.

7) Mercy Rule - a game will be declared over as follows

Cal Ripken Division - If a team is leading by 10 or more runs after 4 innings (3 ½ if home team is winning)

Babe Ruth Division - If a team is leading by 10 or more runs after 5 innings (4 ½ if home team is winning)

8) Championship games will have NO TIME LIMIT. All other games will observe the same time limits used during regular season play.

Tie-Breaker criteria for Pool Play:

In the event of teams having the same record after pool play, the following criteria will be used as tiebreakers in order to determine who advances. This methodology is also used to determine seeding if multiple teams advance. Once a team is eliminated, the order will start over until a winner is determined.

1) Runs against during pool play

2) Runs scored during pool play

3) Head to head regular season results

4) Texas Tie Breaker (below)

In the event of a tie at the end of an Elimination Game, the game will continue in an on-field Tie Breaker. The Texas Tie Breaker rules are as follows:

1) Each inning is started with the last player due up at 2nd base

2) Each batter starts with the following count -      Rookies: 1 strike     Minors/Majors/Babe Ruth: 1-1 count

3) First full inning that ends with a team in the lead will determine the winner
